Our Directors

Steffi

I have a background in fundraising, having raised thousands of pounds for schools, community groups, sports groups, and disability charities across the UK. I have worked and volunteered in the not-for-profit sector for a number of years.

I am a mum of one, and in my spare time I enjoy playing the clarinet, crocheting, and swimming.

I’m extremely honoured and excited to be part of the Open Doors Project, and am excited about working towards ensuring all children with special education needs and disabilities can experience quality outdoor educational opportunities.

I have a background in equality and human rights policy research and have also been involved in a number of human rights campaigns, including a programme aimed at reducing educational inequalities, and a digital inclusion project for asylum seekers. I am also completing a PhD.

I love travelling, meeting people and experimenting with new recipes. I have previously lived abroad in Belgium, Germany and Finland and at the moment I live in London. In my spare time I like walking and playing the violin.

I’m excited about being part of developing The Open Doors Project into an effective and sustainable provider of outdoor educational experiences that is highly valued in the community.

I am a former teacher living and working in the North West. I have worked in mainstream education, as a Special Needs Coordinator, and in Specialist schools. My years in education have developed my interest in outdoor learning, and I have a Masters degree in Teaching Studies, focusing on outdoor learning for children with additional needs.

In my free time I am a keen knitter and reader, and enjoy spending time gardening and looking after my animals.

I plan and lead sessions for Open Doors, in order to create exciting new opportunities for children in Birmingham and Merseyside.
